Good morning, Doctor B. I've been feeling under the weather lately.

Good morning, A. What seems to be the problem?

Well, I have a sore throat, and it's been bothering me for a few days.

Okay, let me take a look. Open up and say "Aah."

Ahh.

Your throat is swollen and red. How does it feel? Does it hurt when you swallow?

Yes, it does quite a bit.

I think you have a case of pharyngitis or strep throat. It's a bacterial infection that requires some antibiotics.

Oh no! Will I be able to sing at my choir recital next week?

(laughs) I wouldn't recommend it just yet. Rest your voice and drink lots of fluids. As for the antibiotics, I'll just write you a prescription.

Thanks, Doctor B. Will it be a pill or syrup?

We have both, but I think the pills would work better for you.

Great, I'll take those. Is there anything else I can do to feel better while I recover?

You can try some warm tea with honey, and some throat lozenges. And of course, get lots of sleep.

Sounds good to me. Thanks again, Doctor B. You're a lifesaver!

(smiling) You're welcome, A. Just doing my job. I hope you feel better soon.
